Bleeding Your Jeep Brakelines

Whether you just installed a set of new brake lines or worked on your brakes in a way that required you to disconnect any brake line, it is absolutely necessary that you bleed your brakes before you drive anywhere. Failure to do so will result in poor to nonexistent braking due to air bubbles trapped inside your brake lines. Symptoms of air bubbles trapped in your braking system include an excessively soft brake pedal or a pedal that goes clear to the floor without any resistance. If you have any of these symptoms even though you have not worked on your brakes, check for leaks, fix where necessary and then proceed to bleed your brakes.

What You Will Need

• DOT3 Brake Fluid
• Brake Bleeder Wrench
• Brake Bleeding Kit or Vinyl Hose & Jar
• Rags
• Someone to Help You Out
What You Need to Do

---

1. Make sure you have everything you need to get started.

2. Park your Jeep on a level surface, apply your emergency brake and put your transmission into gear.

3. If you worked on your master cylinder or disconnected multiple brake lines for whatever reason, you will need to start this job from the passenger side rear brake. If you just worked on your front brake lines, then you need to start at your passenger side front brake. The idea is that you just need to start from the brake that is farthest from the master cylinder.

4. Assemble your brake bleeder kit so that it looks like the image to the right.

5. Climb under your Jeep and remove the rubber cap attached to your brake bleeder valve/nipple.

6. Place your bleeder wrench on the valve/nipple and then insert the tapered fitting into it as shown to the right. Attach the jar using the magnetic head anywhere below the nipple.

7. This is where you could use the assistance of a helper. Have them sit in your driver seat with the engine off. On your command, have them push down on the brake pedal slowly but as forcefully as they can.

8. While they are pushing, slowly open the brake bleeder valve/nipple until your helper notifies you that the pedal is on the floor. At this point, close the valve and tell them to release the pedal. Repeat this process as many times as is needed until no more bubble come out. Depending on how much air you have in your lines, nothing may come out the first couple times you do this.

9. When only fluid comes out of your brake system, tighten your bleeder valve closing it off and replace the rubber cap.

10. Check the fluid level in your master cylinder before you continue and refill as necessary. It is very important to NOT let your master cylinder run dry as it will suck in more air and make your problem worse.

11. Proceed to the driver side rear brake and repeat the process.

12. Again repeat the process on the passenger side front and then the driver side front brakes.

How to change brake lines of your Jeep

What You Will Need

---

• Goodrich Stainless Steel Extended Brake Lines
• Copper Crush Washers
• Retaining Clips
• 9/16" Socket
• T-40 Torx Bit
• 3/8", 1/2", 11/16" Flare Nut Wrenches
• DOT3 Brake Fluid
• Ratchet
• Rag
• Brake Bleeding Kit (vinyl hose and jar works)
• Brake Bleeder Wrench
Installation

---

1. Open your new stainless steel brake line kit and make sure you have all the parts you need to complete this job prior to doing anything else. It is absolutely essential that you have NEW copper crush washers. If you don't, go to your local auto parts store and get them now.

2. Park your Jeep on a level surface and then turn your steering wheel until your tires are pointing completely to the left. This will allow you better access to the passenger side of your front brakes.

3. Assemble the brass fittings (finger tight for now) onto your brake lines as shown in the pic to the right. Take notice how the bend on the rigid end of the brake line is parallel to the flat sides of the brass fitting. (Figure 1-2)

4. Using a 9/16" socket, remove the banjo bolt securing your OEM rubber brake line to the caliper. This will be a bit messy so be sure to have some rags handy. (Figure 3)

5. Now, using a 3/8" flare nut wrench, loosen but do not remove the nut on the hard line attached to your frame as shown in the pic to the left.(Figure 4)

6. Remove the Torx bolt and retaining clip securing your brake line to the frame using a T-40 Torx Bit and then remove the OEM rubber brake line from it. Again, be sure to have some rags handy. (Figure 5)

7. Clean off the banjo bolt of any debris or gunk and then slip it through the brass fitting on your new brake line with a NEW copper crush washer on either end as shown in the pic to the right. (Figure 6)

8. Check to see if there is an old copper crush washer sticking to your brake caliper. If there is, pick it off and clean the surface around the hole of any gunk. Now, fasten the banjo bolt to the caliper (as shown in the pic to the right) securing the brake line to it. It is important to tighten the bolt enough so that the copper washers get crushed but take care not to over do it.

9. Using a 1/2" flare nut wrench, fasten the nut attached to the brass fitting with the banjo bolt going through it. Take care not to over tighten these parts as they are only brass and can be stripped easily. (Figure 7)

10. Now, using a 3/8" and 11/16" flare nut wrench, attach the upper part of your new stainless steel brake line to the hard line attached to your frame. (Figure 8)

11. The kit came with two rubber jacketed retaining clips but the bolt holes were a bit too small to fit the OEM Torx bolts. Needless to say, we had to widen up the holes using a Dremel with a grinding bit before proceeding.

12. Attach your retaining clip to the hard line attached to your frame rail using the OEM torx bolt as shown in the pic above.

13. Repeat entire process on the driver side of your Jeep.

14. Bleed your brakes.

15. With your engine on, pump your brakes and then hold them down for about a minute. Shut your engine off and check for any leaks.

Share network connection between two home PCs

To share the network between two PCs, the one with internet connection should have two adapters, the other one should have one adapter and a pc-to-pc connection wire.
Step 1. Suppose the network adapter with internet connection is Local Area Connection 1. set "Proterties of the adapter 1" as in the figure . Make sure that Local Area connection 2 is the adapter for connection to another pc. Then the current adapter has ip 192.168.0.1.
Step 2. Set the ip of the adapter of pc2 192.168.0.n (n is any # 2-255) with gateway and dns 192.168.0.1.

What to do if you forgot to close your fuel fill gap?

Sometimes it could happen that you forgot to close the fuel fill gap and unfortunately you realized that too late after a rain. It is clear that some water has been in your fuel tank which could cause trouble to start your car in a cold morning if the water became crystals in the gas line.

However, do not panic. There are a few things you could do.

First you should double check whether or not to tell your dealer about this trouble since it could be possible that some dealer could void your warranty if they think the amount of water is significant to damage your engine.

Secondly you could figure out approximately how much rain has entered your fuel tank by recalling how long the fuel fill gap has been exposed to rain and checking how many milicentermeters of rain was observed from the forecast of your local TV station or www.theweathernetwork.com/.

Thirdly you can decide whether or not take more measures depending on how much water could have been in your fuel tank. If there is only a neglectable amount of water, less than one ounce, for example , you can just forget about it since water can become vapour when you drive the car. If you think the amount of water has made your vehicle works differently, you could keep the fuel tank full as possible as you could. Note that water is heavier than gas and water most likely deposits in the bottom of your fuel tank. So it is not a good idea to keep driving to empty the fuel tank since the low fuel alarm will be activated if your vehicle is trying to consume the reserved amount of gas in the bottom of your fuel tank. Besides, your fuel pump will be in the risk of getting overheated to malfunction.

Finally, if you are still unsure about the consequences of the water, you could add some additive, gas-line antifreeze, for example, into your fuel tank which could lower the icing temperature of the water to avoid icy crystals when the anti-freeze combine with the water in your fuel tank. This kind of additive are usually available at your local auto parts stores.
